Nimco Ali Ahmed is a mother of seven and the sole breadwinner in her family. She operates a general wares shop in Bal’ad district in the Middle Shabelle region.  She has since borrowed loans from MicroDahab three times. Her first loan was of amount of $3,500 while the second was $4000 and in the third round, she borrowed $4,900.

“The conditions were very simple,” Nimco says. “After applying for the loan, I was asked to submit my passport photo and the details of my guardian.” From there, Nimco says, it has been easy to get additional loans from MicroDahab. She says her business was struggling and she had no support but she learnt about the MicroDahab credit facility from a friend.

“My business is now very steady and my income has increased significantly,” says Nimco. She can comfortably pay for her children’s school fees and other utilities.

Additionally, Nimco says she has created job opportunities for three people who work for her and many other opportunities for suppliers in Bala’ad and Mogadishu. “I also support young entrepreneurs in the villages who buy goods from me.”

She calls on MicroDahab to expand its reach to other parts of the country to ensure entrepreneurs access the loan facility.
